french toast

Maca Cinnamon French Toast is a delicious & great way to add two superfoods to your diet.

Maca is known as a hormonal adaptogen, which essentially means it contains nutrients that help balance hormones. How does it do this? First, it helps balance adrenal cortisol levels that may be out of balance due to stress. It can help to prevent the effects of high cortisol and improve the function of the adrenals despite low cortisol. It also helps with low thyroid function, stabilizes blood sugar levels and improves energy levels.

As if that isn’t enough, Maca also helps with sexual function. For women, it can help with menstrual cycles, fertility, menopausal symptoms, improve bone health and muscle mass, and help libido. For men, it helps with libido and energy levels, improves testosterone levels, improves bone and muscle mass, helps with prostate function, fertility and erectile dysfunction.

Maca can have a bitter ‘root-like’ taste so adding it to smoothies, oatmeal, muffins, dips or other baking and cooking is the easiest way to incorporate this magical Peruvian root into your diet.

Cinnamon is another superfood that your hormones will love. It supports the adrenal glands, helps with menses, stabilizes blood sugar and helps lower & prevent insulin resistance.

2 slices of sourdough bread (or whole wheat)

1 tbsp of coconut oil

What you do:

Mix egg, cinnamon, maca and nutmeg together in shallow dish. Soak a couple of slices of sourdough (or whole wheat bread if you are not gluten intolerant), fry in a little coconut oil and serve with maple syrup, sprinkled coconut and fresh fruit!
